September is almost here!!!

Happy Wednesday Parents!!! This week is going by so quickly especially with our early release (Professional Learning ) day!  This week we are reading Wild About Us and the students are learning about zoo animals and their characteristics.  I will share some of our essential questions that you can review with your child.  We have moved on to learning about the letter D and words that begin with the letter D.  The full-day students are learning the letter D sound and practicing how to format and write the letter D.

Remember next Monday, September 3, 2018 is Labor Day!  School will be closed.

Happy Monday!!!

This week’s book will be The Seals on the Bus (see the image below)!  This book is similar to the famous The Wheels on the Bus  song but it incorporates animals and animals sounds.  It’s a fun twist to an oldie but goodie.  We will introduce the letter B this week and practice the letter B sound.  This week’s social lesson will be respecting personal space.  Students and teachers will act out scenarios for modeling.  Full-day students continue to work on formatting capital letters and patterning.

First Full Week of 2018-2019 school year!!!

Image result for back to school

Welcome to another great year at Nickajack!!!  This year we have several new faces in our class!! Your child will have the opportunity to meet many new friends.  It’s also a chance to meet new parents and make a bond with them too.

Our first 3 days of school was spent familiarizing ourselves with each other and the class rules and expectations.  We will continue our Back to School theme until Friday, August 17th.  We have been reading Llama Llama Misses Mama.  Next week’s book will be Seals on the Bus or Wheels on the Bus.

The students will begin learning their alphabets starting with Letter A.  The full-day students will learn the letter sound, letter formation and 2 sight words beginning with the letter A.

Our social lesson of the week:  Being still and quiet in a line.

*** We are asking  2 parents to volunteer as Room Parents for the 2018-2019 school year.  The PTA will provide you with all the information and materials you need  if you decide to take on the job.  Please let me know if you are interested.

It is my plan to update the blog every Monday.  If I fail to do so, just know I will communicate important information to you through other ways of communication.

BACK THE JACK

Campaign Reminder:  Parents, Back the Jack is going on this week and next!  Remember to donate to the campaign in order to fund teacher grants and technological improvements for the whole school.  The class with the most participation wins a snow cone party; that could be us!

Pep Rally Reminder: We are having the Back the Jack Pep Rally on Sept 8 at 1:30.  Please wear your Back the Jack shirts and have kids make signs if possible.  Come out to the hallways by your classroom for a special appearance by the Campbell High School band and cheerleaders.  We will be giving away stickers and possibly t-shirts to enthusiastic participants!  Thanks for supporting our school!
